We have been using playdough to compare the mass of different sized balls. We looked at how the balance scales changed depending on the weight of the balls. We discussed how we knew when one side was heavier and the other was lighter.
After that we discussed making the two sides equal and we challenged ourselves to make 2 equal sized balls of dough. We knew they were equal when the scales balanced!
We have been practising measuring and comparing length. We worked in pairs to draw around each other’s feet and measured the length of our footprints using cubes. We then compared the quantities and discussed which footprint was the longest/ shortest and why.
