GREAT HARWWOOD ST JOHN’S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

MISSION STATEMENT “Where everyone shines with God's love”

Based on 'My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.'

John 15:12

OUR SCHOOL'S VISION

'Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.'  Matthew 18.5

As a Church of England school, our curriculum has Christian values at its heart. It is our vision at Great Harwood St John’s CE Primary School, that ALL learners leave our school with a lifelong love of learning and that they know they are loved and treasured as individuals. To achieve this vision, we dedicate ourselves to a set of collective aims.

Great Harwood St John's is committed to:

  • Celebrating difference and developing the uniqueness of every child under our care.  We challenge ourselves to recognise children’s starting points at the earliest opportunity and quickly set about creating learning plans that are specific to them and designed to harness their full potential.

  • Broadening every child's horizons, by showering them with enrichment opportunities to enhance their curiosity about their local community and the world around them.

  • Working collaboratively as one school family, utilising the expertise of all staff, Governors, parent/carers and wider stakeholders, to ensure a clear, coherent, well-balanced curriculum that is bespoke to us and celebrates who we are.

  • Ensuring that the whole child’s needs are met, including their academic, social and emotional needs. As a proudly trauma-informed school, we recognise that each need is as important as the other and that to thrive, our children must feel supported in all aspects of their daily lives.

  • Serving our community by providing an education of the highest quality that preserves and develops our religious character in partnership with the parish and diocese.  We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith for our children and promote Christian values, in both belief and practice, through the experiences we offer to them all.

As a school, we expect to maintain the highest standards that we set for ourselves, and demand of one another that we continue to thrive and excel as a Church of England school of high standing.

'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.'   Proverbs 3:5-6

OUR SCHOOL VALUES

Our school has 6 values per year which we run on a 2 year cycle. Each one of these becomes a main focus for a half term, but we refer to all values all of the time. These are:

Generosity,

Compassion,

Courage,

Forgiveness,

Friendship,

Respect.

Thankfulness,

Trust,

Perseverance,

Justice,

Service,

Truthfulness.

All our values are embraced with LOVE.

'And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.'

Colossians 3:14
