Our School

At St John's C of E Primary School we work with a trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning. All staff have had extensive training on ACES and being trauma aware.

We connect before we correct. We stay curious not furious.

We understand that behaviour is a means of communication and we believe in co-regulation, that children regulate off the adults in their lives.

Some times children CAN'T not WON'T. We understand when someone is 'flipping their lid' and believe in restoration not punishment.

Relationships buffer/ relieve stress and help to build resilience.

All of us need one another, always.

Resilience means we see you, we hear you and we are with you.

We strive to ensure that all our children's needs are met, whether this is academic, social or emotional.
