Forest School

Great Harwood St John's CE Forest School Intent

Our school vision is for all children to learn and develop in an environment ‘Where everyone shines with God’s love.’ As part of this vision, we expand and enhance the breadth of our curriculum by incorporating a designated outdoor learning and Forest School curriculum. Forest School is a unique method of outdoor learning. We aim to give all children a collective insight into the ethos of Forest School. Forest School builds on a child's natural motivation and positive attitude to learning, offering them the opportunities to take risks, make choices and initiate learning for themselves. Forest School aims to aid the children in their learning but also be provided in a positive, enjoyable, creative and inspiring manner that will allow them to transfer the skills and knowledge from the Forest Schools lessons into the classroom and life outside of school.

Kestrel Class have had lots of fun at Forest School! They have been learning to light fires for fairies, they've been on a bug hunt, created mud faces and made their own wooden medallions.
