Homework Help
At St. John's we believe in ensuring that pupils develop valuable life-skills and that they are very well equipped for the next stage of their education. Homework forms a valuable part of this learning.
There are many reasons for setting Homework as part of a broad and balanced curriculum, some of which we believe are:
- To develop a partnership between home and school in relation to children’s learning;
- To practice, reinforce or extend work covered in class, particularly in the core subjects of reading, spelling, maths and writing;
- To encourage pupils to foster self-discipline, effective organisation skills and an understanding of the importance of time constraints;
- To encourage children to take more responsibility for extending their own learning as they progress through our school and prepare for their transfer to their next stage of their learning in Key Stage 3 and beyond.
If you have any problems or wish to seek advice about homework, our staff are always very happy to help. Please ring school to make an appointment at a convenient time for both yourself and the class teacher.
