Welcome to Great Harwood St. John's CE Primary School
A very warm welcome to St. John's CE Primary School website!
Where Everyone Shines With God's Love
Based on
'My command is this: Love one another as I have loved you.' John 15:12
'How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity.' Psalm 133:1
On behalf of the Staff, Governors, children and parents, it gives me great pleasure in welcoming your family to our school website. Through visiting the various tabs of this website you will see that St. John's is a thriving Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School, committed to providing a broad and balanced education within a secure Christian environment.
We are committed to developing our pupils’ understanding of the Christian faith. Within this context, the school teaches respect for other world religions, whilst maintaining Christian values in its ethos and teaching. Christian collective worship is a significant part of our school's daily life.
St. John's gives high priority to the spiritual development of the individual by promoting a sense of curiosity and excitement about the world and encouraging openness in our search for truth, meaning and the purpose in life.
'I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.' Psalm 139:14
St. John's shares a partnership, involving school, home and church, which encourages everyone to make a positive contribution to the wider community enabling us to prepare and nurture the children in our care as adults for the future.
At St. John's we are fortunate to have enthusiastic staff, who are committed to high standards of education and behaviour. The school has a wonderful "family" atmosphere, which gives children a secure and happy environment in which to learn and develop as young adults. One of the keys to our success, is promoting the positive in all that we do and say, having a commitment to being positive role models and a mutual respect for everyone.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2017 states that we remain a good school and that 'the school continues to improve.' Our school is a happy place where children are supported to do the best that they can. 'You have successfully created a school culture that balances the ambition for pupils to achieve as well as they can do academically with strong pastoral support.' (Short inspection letter March 2017).
We were delighted that our commitments to faith and the high standard of education was recognized in the schools SIAM’s report in November 2018 which stated 'Strong, caring and nurturing relationships exist allowing adults and pupils to flourish.' 'The vast majority of all pupils make good progress and have high expectations.'
Our long term vision is to continue to thrive and excel as a Church of England school of high standing, retaining our Christian ethos and fulfilling our Mission Statement whilst providing an education of the highest degree possible.
We encourage visitors to view our school website and learn all about our school and what we have achieved to date and also what is planned for the future. If you ever want to come and visit us to see what we do, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
With Best Wishes
Miss Parker
